Our School
Welcome to our school. St Philip’s is a small school, yet we are a vibrant community. We are situated in beautiful, expansive grounds that offer a calm and safe environment in Blackburn North. From the moment you set foot in our school you will experience our welcome and inclusive community where everyone is known and nurtured.
The teachings of Jesus are infused in all that we do at St Philip’s, and the gospel values of love, forgiveness, truth and justice are experienced in the daily life of our school.
At St Philip’s our children are at the centre of school life. As educators we strive to develop their academic, spiritual, physical and social and emotional learning. We promote opportunities for every child to learn respect for self, the other, and the environment. Our inclusive and rigorous curriculum endeavours to equip our students with the knowledge and skills that will enable them to contribute to the world..
Our commitment to child safety underpins everything we do at St Philip’s. We provide a secure learning environment where our students know they are supported through our school and family partnership.
Governance Statement
St Philip’s School is a school which operates with the consent of the Catholic Archbishop of Melbourne and is operated and governed by Melbourne Archdiocese Catholic Schools Ltd (MACS).
MACS governs and operates Catholic schools in the Archdiocese to continue the mission of Catholic education to proclaim the Good News and equip our young people with the knowledge, skills, and hope to live meaningful lives and enrich the world around them.
Because the good work of educating the young is a co-responsible task led by every member of the Catholic school community, School Advisory Councils have been established to provide a crucial point of connection between the wider school community and school leaders. This governance model was designed to ease the administrative burden on our schools and parishes, allow parish priests to focus on the mission of education in the parish, enable greater collaboration between schools and ensure greater consistency in school policies and procedures.
More information about MACS is available at www.macs.vic.edu.au.
